2012 Oscar Wrap-Up

Hello Darling Dolls. Tashara here (of course).

I know I’m a little late, but I was on a plane flying back from D.C. when the Oscars were airing. Y’all already know I was beyond mad that I missed the red carpet, but spending time with my G-hub for his birthday was much more important than fashion. *Gasp* Yes, some things are more important than fashion 🙂 There’s not too many things though. Since there were so many looks that I despised, I decided to review the looks that I loved. Is there some type of personal stylist strike going on and celebrities are being left to fend for themselves? I’m totally available for hire, folks! Some of the looks I saw on the carpet were appalling!

Before I even go into the fashion, let me just say that I’m not that much of a fan of natural hair on most people, but Viola Davis is ROCKING that natural! Werk, ma’am! She had to werk something because that gown was atrocious. While we’re speaking of Viola Davis, let’s discuss other actresses from The Help. (All of my pics are from MTV.com–I feel like I need to include this or someone will come after me!)

Octavia Spencer has been dominating the red carpet this season. Being an Alabama native, I am proud of her not only for winning an Oscar, but also for being so fierce on the carpet and dressing those curves to perfection! Octavia, girl, please stick with Tadashi Shoji. This dress created an hourglass figure that would make Angelina Jolie jealous! (And she should be because Ang needs to gain a few pounds).

Emma Stone can do no wrong in my eyes. I saw that people were complaining about the bow around her neck, but I love it! It is sophisticated and chic. The color of this Giambattista Valli Couture complimented Emma’s hair color and skin tone. Say what you want, but I think she looked UH-MAAZING.

Oh, Natalie Portman why did you do this? This Christian Dior gown is reminiscent of a lady bug. I know polka dots are in for Spring, but honey, this isn’t the look. And this hair is so boring. I wish the dress would have given me less and the hair could have given more.

When I saw Glenn Close in this custom Zac Posen I screamed, “YES!!” and then gave two snaps! She is crushing actresses that are half her age! This color is gorgeous, she’s gorgeous, her body is UH-MAAZING. The blazer completed this ensemble and sealed it as a Glenn Close original. I will say that I could have done without the spurting of green in the back, but it’s Glenn Close! She’s a legend and can do what she wants!

Milla Jovovich– OLD HOLLYWOOD. This one-shoulder Elie Saab gown literally took my breath away. I gasped! She looks absolutely gorgeous. I seriously have no more words. Just admire this.

Gwyneth Paltrow  has on a cape and I am living, breathing, and fulfilled!  This Tom Ford concoction is so dramatic, I can’t even deal. I almost fainted, because I love this so much. And do you see this pose?!

I know I said I was only going to do the looks that I loved, but if anyone knows me y’all know Marchesa is the reason for my existence but THIS has made me question life.

Stacy Keibler is a nice looking girl and she pulls off this color well. The material is gorgeous, but there is no reason to have this rose contraption protruding from her hip. It is too much for her small frame. It looks like a growth sticking out. I’m so baffled and completely devastated.

I’m an Alexander McQueen lover, so when I saw a pic of Jessica Chastain my first thought was, “Who is this?” Then I thought,”It doesn’t matter. This has to be McQueen!” Low and behold, when I scrolled down, I saw that it indeed was McQueen. The gold on this black is magnificent! The embroidery is UH-MAAZING. It fits her like a glove.

You have to love anyone named Busy. I feel like this Dolce & Gabbana gown is something I would wear even though it does give me an old thrown out couch type of feel. The pulls and gathering at the waist does wonders for her already spectacular body. I love the contrast of the earrings and shoes, which is also something I would do. I like that the dress is slightly short so that you can get that pop of color from the shoe, which is much-needed. Our similarities end here. I would have done my hair for the red carpet and this is something Busy Phillips did not do. Eh. This look is okay. Maybe I just put her in here because her name is Busy? (Yes, I know it’s not her legal name).

To continue with my confusion, here is Louise Roe in Black Halo. I like that this is suit and a gown so like a suown? gouit? Don’t even try to pronounce those. This is a nice color and the belt is to die. Plus, she’s pretty. I think I like it. It’s no Glenn Close original, but I think it’s okay. Eh.

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in Zuhair Murad. I feel like her hair was too contrite, almost giving her a homemade facelift. The gown was sort of like an optical illusion, but also pleasing to the eye. Work out, J-lo!

That is all for the women! Stay tuned for my review of the men of the red carpet! Idris Elba wore Louboutin sneakers to the Grammy’s and my love for him grew deeper. His explanation was, “Why are women the only ones who get to wear red bottoms to these things?” I just felt that I needed to share that with y’all.

Airport Look

Hello Darling Dolls!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I went to D.C. last weekend, so I decided to post a gallery of my airport look! D.C. was a lot of fun, but I’m definitely not a city girl. Aside from the humbling experience of seeing the Lincoln Memorial and all of the other statues, memorials, and architecture of D.C., the next best thing was the shopping! There was a 3 level Forever 21! 3 levels! Zara is definitely one of my new favorite store. I wish there was one here in Raleigh. We were pressed for time and didn’t get to shop as much as we wanted to. I vowed to never go back to D.C., but if I do, it will be a trip totally dedicated to shopping!

As for my airport look, I went for a comfortable, but cute look. I was complimented in Raleigh and Baltimore, so I was pleased! I wore  a tunic by Jason Wu for Target, a scarf from K-Mart (Yes, K-Mart! I went in there for tights and to look at the Sofia Vergara line and I ended up getting 2 pair of tights and a scarf!), leggings from Sears and Steve Madden wedged knee boots! What do you y’all think of my look?!

Sprung on Spring

Hello my darling dolls! Tashara here.

Who’s excited about Spring? Tasha and I are just dying for Spring to come. I admit, Fall/Winter is my favorite season, but after a while I get tired of the boots, the itchy wool sweaters, and the thick layers! The stores are beginning to bring in colors, shorts and skirts are appearing, and fabric is getting thinner. So what are the trends for this Spring? Of course I have a bulleted list prepared for you! I will include pictures of items that I personally own. I comprised this list myself by perusing through stores and flipping through magazines. Now introducing my personal favorite 10 trends for Spring!

  1. Statement Jewelry. I have discovered an amazing place to get jewelry from such a lovely woman who is focused on customer service. I have started buying my jewelry from Ty the Jewelry Lady. If you go to Facebook you can order jewelry auction style! I love this. It’s so exhilarating and fun! Go to Facebook, Tyesha posts pictures, you leave a comment with your email, she emails your invoice and you have 15 minutes to pay before the jewelry is sold to someone else. So fun! Keep proportion in mind while you’re browsing.  If you have a short neck and you pick out a chunky, breastplate necklace, it will look like you’re wearing a bedazzled neck brace and if your neck isn’t broken that’s never a good look.  As far as color, the magazines were raving about blue, green and mint green for Spring. In addition to that, I recommend gold and various hues of pink, orange, and yellow.

 2. Colorblocking. Since I love color, color blocking is like a dream come true for me. What is color blocking, you ask? It is as simple and self-explanatory as you think-blocks of color. Colorblocking can be “pre-made” and bought straight out of the store OR you can create your own color block. If you’re not sure what colors to mix, here’s a little tip. Go to the paint section in Wal-Mart and look at the paint swatches. Gather up some of your favorite colors and play around with the cards. Take these with you when you go shopping! I’ve attached a pair of color block platform Mary Janes by Guess that I own. These were a little pricey, but you can get a similar pair from JustFab or Target. Mary Janes aren’t just church shoes for little girls anymore. They’re back and they’re sexy!

3. Neon. Since we’re speaking of colorblocking, you should know that neon is in for Spring! Neon colored cropped pants, shorts, and skinny jeans are it! You can get gorgeous skinny jeans from American Eagle. If you want to save a little cash go to Old Navy. The colors aren’t as bright, but they’re not terrible either. Bright pencil skirts are a fabulous way to go from work to night! Here’s an example of a neon pencil skirt that I own. I got it on sale at Express and I  love it. Isn’t it uh-maazing?! This outfit is a perfect example of mixing and matching! Yes, those are electric blue pumps that my darling Tasha gave me one Christmas!

4. Maxi skirts. I love this look, but then again I like a hippie look in Spring. If you’re a tall girl and you can’t find a skirt that’s long enough, here’s a little tip for you my statuesque sister! Buy a strapless maxi dress and wear it as a skirt! I recently purchased a pleated (yes, pleats are back!), lime green, chiffon maxi skirt with a satin belt from Old Navy. Yes, it is as gorgeous as it sounds. I plan to wear it with a white v-neck shirt, pink floral scarf, light denim jacket, and leopard flats/sandals. I’m still on the hunt for a denim jacket.

5. Floral. Speaking of hippie, floral is in for spring! WOOHOO! Can y’all tell how overjoyed I am? Mixing prints is a must for spring. If you think floral is too busy for you, go for more spread out prints instead of clustered prints. Also, pick vibrant colors. Dull floral gives a little house on the prairie type of look and I cannot get down with that. If you’re more comfortable with a toned down floral, grab a bright skinny belt to make the print pop a little bit more. The Jason Wu line at Target is affordable and so darling! Let me just repeat that Target also has uh-maazing shoes. You should RUSH to target for their Mossimo platform pumps that come in every bright color you need and are on sale now for $28. I literally drooled over a hot pink pair. Thankfully, my friend talked me out of buying them, but you better believe I’ll be there next pay day! 🙂

6. Kimono style tops. Have you seen those shirts that look like when you spread your arms you’ll fly away? It’s like a cape and the bodice of the shirt and the sleeves are connected? I LOVE THESE TOPS! They can be dressed up or down. The leopard top I have on in the picture with the neon pencil skirt is a kimono top. They’re all not as dramatic as I described. In addition to the leopard one you saw above, and the floral one you’ll see below, I own a solid, gorgeous mustard colored one as well. Get one of these shirts, complement with a colored or print tank and wear with shorts or skinny jeans. These tops are so versatile! Below is me in my floral kimono. Sorry I don’t have a full shot. I promise I’m going to buy a full length mirror one of these days! I wore this with dark denim skinny jeans and nude heels

7. Metallic heels. Heels are the answer to any outfit, but a metallic heel goes above and beyond.  Even if you just get gold or silver, these heels will transform your whole outfit and make it pop! These aren’t metallic, but they are sparkly! 8. High-low. At first I thought that high-low hemlines were stupid, but now I like it. Skirts that are above the knee in the front and hit the mid-calf in the back work for anyone of any height. Now, shirts that flirt near the midsection and dip low in the back are not for everyone, but you can make it work with a tank underneath. This is an easy way to mix prints or colorblock.

9. Last but certainly not least, African and animal prints. Now, these prints are always a trend for me. I think that animal print is a necessity for everything in your life. Mixing African prints with bright colors is absolutely gorgeous. Don’t be afraid to add a pop of color to animal print. Here are a few combinations: Zebra + hot pink. Leopard + red. Gray & black cheetah print + yellow. I could go on and on for days, but those are the simplest combos.

10. Confidence! Put together any outfit that you want, but make sure your number one accessory is confidence!  If you walk like you know you’re gorgeous and own your outfit instead of it owning you, a belted trash bag would look uh-maazing! Dare to be different, take chances, experiment with different textures, embrace color and WORK IT OUT!

Hello my darling dolls! Tashara here.

I told you guys I’d show some home decor tips and now is the time! Below you can see some of my favorites from my bedroom. I have to say that my bedroom is my sanctuary. I love everything about my room. I feel so at home and my bed is UH-MAAZINGLY comfortable! I hope you guys like it, if not it doesn’t matter because I’m the only one sleeping in there! Bulleted lists are my new favorite thing for February. Let me strike a match and help make your house the bomb!

Tips:

  • Coffee beans not only look good in a vase, but they also smell UH-MAAZING. You can use any size or shape glass vase, pour in flavored beans, top with artificial or real flowers and you’ve got a centerpiece for under $10! Also, if flowers aren’t your thing, place tealight candles on top of the beans. If you light the candles it intensifies the smell of the beans.
  • Curtain rod + shower hooks = Perfect jewelry organizer. Hang a curtain rod somewhere in your room, bathroom or hallway. Hang necklaces or earrings on shower hooks and you have an innovative, accessible and cute way to display your jewelry and keep your necklaces from tangling!
  • Got an old picture frame that you don’t know what to do with? Tired of not knowing how to store your earrings? Glue strips of lace on a picture frame and you have a sexy earring holder! Bling and bedazzzle the picture frame for a little pizzazz! If you’re really fancy, place patterned scrapbook paper behind the frame.
  • Wall stickers are a contemporary, hassle free, easy way to give your walls some character! I have a chandelier wall sticker above my headboard and it’s blinged out with rhinestones! In my living room, (which I will show you guys later) I have stickers of quotes. I love pictures, but hate nailing holes in the wall. I surrounded a wall sticker quote with a collage of photos. You can form the photos into a shape, but I just didn’t have time for all of that. For instance, get a wall sticker quote about love and surround it w/pics of your and your boo in the form of a heart. Use adhesive for the pictures or rhinestones stickers from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. The pictures will come right off the wall without ruining the paint.
  • Did you see the old school clock that I have on my nightstand? I love it. I don’t set the alarm because there is no am/pm option. It’s more for looks, but isn’t it so cute? Find some traditional, classic pieces to mix with a modern/contemporary themed room.
  • The black wood chair that I have in my room is another example of a classic/contemporary mix. Black wood makes my insides tingle! I love it! The cushion of the chair has random cursive words (I think it’s French words. I honestly don’t know), but the body of the chair gives me a traditional feel. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your pillows! Mix texture, fabric, pattern and colors. Matchy/matchy is out, honey! Mixy/mixy is it! You can do the same with your sheets. My fitted sheet is the salmon sheet that matches the pillows and the top sheet is white and gray damask. When you make your bed, pull your comforter back half way, pull your sheet out to meet the ends of the exposed comforter, then fold the comforter up an inch. This exposes the cohesiveness of all three elements!
  • Speaking of mixy/mixy, my lamps and curtains are damask patterned, but the colors are the inverse of each other. Find a pattern that you like and mix and match the dominate colors. My curtains are black with white pattern, but my lamps are white with black pattern.
  • I am the worst at remembering things. I love post-it notes and making lists, but ALWAYS lose the post-its. Get a cheap frame of any size, put a piece of scrapbook paper behind it (or even a picture) and you have an instant dry erase board! I blinged out (of course) my frame with rhinestone stickers from Michael’s. You could paint the frame, write quotes with a paint pen, use glitter, random buttons or pinto beans and macaroni if you’re channeling your Kindergarten days. Whatever works for you, honey!

I hope you guys enjoyed the mini tour of my crib! If you have any questions or want some suggestions on how to spruce up your humble abode and make it explode, feel free to email me at TNTBombDotCom@gmail.com. Tweet us! Like us on Facebook! 2012 Adeley’s! (Grammy’s)

Hello My Darling Dolls! Tashara here (of course).

I posted a video of random clips of me giving my opinion on the Grammy’s, but it was so overwhelming! I decided to do a clearer, more concise blog with my take on the fashion choices for the night. Marchesa is one of my favorite designers and I STILL do not know who wore Marchesa to the Grammy’s. If any of you know, please relay this information to me! Now let’s get into this! I’m going to do a bulleted list of people who I did not touch on during my video. I’ll post pictures at the bottom. That’ll be more organized and space conscious than me trying to insert pictures with text beside it. Because honey, inserting pictures and text has been a calamity for me! Let’s gooooooo!

  • Adele– (Now y’all know I had to talk about my girl again). In my video, you will be able to really feel my love for Awesome, Adorable, UH-Maazing, Adele! Her sparkle gown accentuated her curves, her makeup enhanced that gorgeous face of hers, and honey that hair gave me everything I needed and more. Adele, from the bottom of my heart, I adore you!
  • Joy Williams (from the Civil Wars) – made me want to get knocked up! Girl, you WERK! She was stunning.
  • Kathy Griffin – Is giving Joan Rivers a run for her money with his plastic surgery. Ma’am was almost breathtaking. Her hair color popped against the color of the gown she wore, but that mini strap had to go.
  • Carrie Underwood – Twinkle, twinkle, country singing star! 1 word. UH-MAAZING. Her hair could have been a little bit better. I wish she would have done the side piece that she had when she was on stage with Tony Bennett. I also wish she would burn that black prom dress.
  • I was going to speak on Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa but never mind. Next..
  • David Guetta– I’m not sure if he’s a DJ or a producer or what, but I enjoy him! I loved the studs on his lapel and the matching shoes. So retro, so.. David Guetta! Now his wife.. well.. nevermind. wait.. GIRL WHY DID YOU WEAR ALL THAT LEATHER?! okay. nevermind.
  • Taraji P. Henson-She almost made me hate animal print and if y’all knew and could understand how much I love animal print, then you will understand how much I despised this dress. Awful.
  • Ice-T– SIR IS WORKING THIS ALL BLACK! He went from gangsta rapper, to actor and now to GQ model. AND Coco is covered up! Cutest couple award! (only because Khloe and Lamar were not there).
  • Cyndi Lauper– I know y’all might wonder what is wrong with me, but I actually liked this. Cyndi is a mess and I like that even more. I think this look worked her for. Even if you do hate the ensemble, give her props for not aging one bit! I’m not sure what type of super strength Botox she’s on, but she needs to patent it and mass produce it NOW!
  • Adam Levine – I think he went on a shopping spree with Eric Benet or worked with Eric’s stylist, either way I love it. It’s Adam Levine. He can do no wrong. I mean really, just look at him. Scrumptious.
  • Rihanna – She almost received the best piece of the night award, but Diana Ross beat her out. I loved her red carpet look. It was true to her style, sexy, but also slighty classy (in a Rihanna type way). LOVE the blonde on her. HATE the blonde piece she wore during her performance. Overall, 4 guns to Rihanna! (Y’all know she’s gangsta now).
  • Giuliana Rancic- I am glad Giuliana’s name is spelled with a G instead of a J, because that G stands for goddess! Absolutely gorgeous! Whether she’s interviewing or being interviewed, G always works it!

I’ll end this on a good note! Don’t forget to stop by our Youtube page to watch videos and tutorials! I have posted three links to our Youtube (now 4 links) so there is so no reason that you haven’t gone. Tweet us @TNTBombDotCom! Now you can even like us on Facebook! When Tasha said we were taking over your screens, she was NOT joking! TNT is here and we are here to stay, honey!

Go Greek!!

After eating a boring turkey sandwich for lunch, I wanted something to tickle my tastebuds without skewing my calorie and sugar count for the day. I put spinach and a little arugula on my sandwich, but it just didn’t supply me with the punch that I desired. For dessert, I ate an orange, but I still had a lingering sensation for sweet. I sat and pondered what I could do to satisfy this craving. —> Pondering  Then it hit me! I remembered I decided to buy some Greek Yougurt Parfait by YoCrunch. If you click those links, you’ll be led to the website where you can get coupons! Woohoo! Everyday is double discount day at Kroger, so if there’s a store near you, make sure you add YoCrunch to your grocery list.

I mixed in the provided granola and indulged in a delicious treat for only 110 calories! I can’t remember the sugar count, but hey it’s better than eating a Twix! The 4 pack is less than $3 and with your coupon you can get up to $2 off! Browse the website to pick the perfect match for you! I also enjoy Oikos Greek Yogurt by Dannon.  They’re $1 a piece at Wal-Mart and worth every piece of that dollar, honey! Spice up your lunch or dinner and go out and buy some of this thick, creamy, delectable, UH-MAAZING, yogurt. Even if you don’t like yogurt, greek yogurt is completely different from what your taste buds are accustomed to!

Check out the gallery below of me enjoying my treat!
